PROTECT HUNTINGTON BEACH is a group of grassroots Huntington Beach citizens working to protect the welcoming culture and sound financial future of their city. Protect Huntington Beach will work to educate citizens of potential changes in local government and actively campaign against these dangerous changes. The group coordinates donations through the Real Politics CA Committee.
HB City Charter Changes
The current City Council majority is proposing changes to the City Charter that deny your rights as a citizen of Huntington Beach. These changes would compromise residents’ voting rights, make our elections less secure, and would significantly alter the balance of power in our city government. The City Council majority has done this in direct contradiction to the process specified in the City Charter for making amendments as well as the City’s Municipal Code. The ad hoc committee appointed by the City Council majority has not allowed ANY public participation in the process of drafting these proposed changes. “Protect Huntington Beach” is a group of concerned residents of HB who want to increase residents’ awareness of these proposed Charter changes and the effect they will have.
